Making Donations
The Power of Giving
The generosity of donors to Dartmouth-Hitchcock (D-H) Nursing knows no borders. Our donors make a difference by supporting much-needed programs and educational opportunities for D-H nurses and nursing professionals. And because our nursing programs receive this much-needed funding, our patients are the ones who ultimately benefit.
Philanthropic support advances our commitment to leading the transformation of health care to achieve the best possible health for people in our community, in our region and beyond. We're pleased to share just one example of how a family's thoughtful donation made a difference to D-H nurses and their patients.
The Lillian Louise Knox Memorial Fund
The Lillian Louise Knox Memorial Fund is one of the oldest nursing endowments at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. The fund was established in 1961 to provide support for nursing education. Most recently, support was provided for the Weekend Immersion in Nursing Informatics Conference in October 2010.
The conference focused on basic competencies in the field of Nursing Informatics, which is the application of computers, communications and information technology systems to patient-centered medical care. The conference was presented by Carol J. Bickford, PhD, RN-BC and Kathleen Smith, MScEd, RN-BC, who are both board certified in Nursing Informatics and are well known in the Nursing Informatics field. Thirty D-H nurses participated in the conference to gain in-depth knowledge about how the new electronic health record system that was launched in April 2011 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock will enhance their nursing practice.
"We were delighted to host the Weekend Immersion in Nursing Informatics conference at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center," says Debra Dulac, RN, MBA, BC, CPHIT, Director of Nursing Informatics. "It was a great opportunity to meet nursing informatics specialists from other organizations. We were definitely ‘immersed' in the growing field of Nursing Informatics and became more aware of its importance."
